THE MAZE RUNNER
When the
lift cranks open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name only. But
he’s not alone. An army of boys welcome him to glade, an encampment at the
centre of a terrible maze. The Gladers have no idea why they are there or what
is happened to the world outside. In glade they are many guys and suddenly one
day Teresa came to the glade and she is the only girl in the glade. And
following the arrival of the girl with a massage, they must find a way out or
die.
Review of the books:
On the chapter one Thomas can only remember is name on
entering the glades but on the movie He can't even remember that when he first
gets there. And Thomas is afraid and just stands there in the Glade if in the
movie He attempts to run and falls down and realizes he is in the maze. The
Gladers create maps of the maze that they study.Theresa is unconcious for
several days after arriving but on the movie she wakes up shortly after
arriving. Theresa ignores the others besides Thomas initially. She interacts with the others and tells
them to leave her alone.Thomas and Theresa can communicate via telepathy in the
books but in the movie they do not. Ben was banished to the maze while wearing
a collar attached to a one long metal pole,Ben was banished to the maze by the
Gladers holding many spears and other wooden devices on hand for such
occurrences in movie. The serum exists before Thomas and Teresa arrive in the
Glade but in the movie Teresa brings vials of serum with her to the
Glade.Thomas and Minho kill the Grievers by sending them off the Cliff to
survive the night in the maze.
Thomas
and Minho kill a Griever by getting it smashed in a moving wall to survive the
night in the maze.Thomas spends a day in the Slammer for entering the maze and
Thomas spends a night in the Pit for entering the maze in the movie. There is no
difference in weather in the Glade it is always sunny during the day but in the
movie the weather changes in the Glade it's cloudy and rains.Teresa comes up in
the box and says everything will change in the books but in the movie Teresa
comes up in the box and say Thomas Gally runs away goes into hiding and is gone for most of the
book only to come back and get taken by a griever and then once again when the
creators make him attack Thomas but in the movie Gally doesn't run away go into
hiding and is in the whole movie. He also isn't taken by a griever. Runners run
with their left hand brushing the side of the wall in the maze. Runners just
run in the movie.Gally is portrayed to be a boy with longish black hair but
Gally is portrayed to be a boy with short ginger hair in the movie. Newt is
second in command as in he watches the other gladers and make sure they are
doing there job he's like alby but in the movie Newt is keeper of the
gardeners.
Review of movie
Thomas wakes up in an elevator, remembering nothing but his
own name. He emerges into a world of about 60 teen boys who have learned to
survive in a completely enclosed environment, subsisting on their own
agriculture and supplies. A new boy arrives every 30 days. The original group
has been in "The Glade" for three years, trying to find a way to
escape through the Maze that surrounds their living space. They have begun to
give up hope. Then a comatose girl arrives with a strange note, and their world
begins to change. There are some great, fast-paced action scenes, particularly
those involving the nightmarish Grievers who plague the boys.

The Maze Runner film released on 2014 is a YA-novel formula
that’s reliably produced so many hugely successful film adaptations in recent
years. And indeed director Wes Ball’s film is based on the best seller by James
Dashner. It features a similar structure, hits some recognizable beats and
includes some character types that will seem pretty familiar to anyone who’s
seen the “Hunger Games” films, or “Divergent,” or “The Giver.THE MAZE RUNNER is
a dystopian thriller based on James Dashner's best-selling YA book trilogy. The
action starts immediately, with an elevator taking a scared teenage guy, Thomas
as Dylan O'Brien, up into the unknown. When the doors open, he is introduced to
the Glade, a mysterious all boy commune surrounded by an even more mysterious
Maze that changes every day and is home to killer mechanized bugs called
"Grievers." Every month, the elevator delivers supplies and a new
amnesiac resident. None of the imprisoned boys can remember anything but their
names, with the newest guy being Thomas.
Actually, he doesn’t even know his name is Thomas at first.
Dylan O’Brien (MTV’s “Teen Wolf”), who resembles a young Rob Lowe, plays the
confused young man. At the film’s start, he finds himself rising quickly in a
big, rickety freight elevator that’s also loaded with supplies. The film’s
sound design is quite startling and effective it puts you on edge from the
earliest moments. Thomas is the main character of this movie.Played by Dylan O’
Brien. First of all, He is immune amongst many others. He was one of the creators
of The Maze. In my opinion, people are attracted to watch this movie because of
his good looks.
Main character Thomas by O’Brien is a great role model,
helping his friends and standing up to authority when necessary.Thomas has no
memory of who he is and no idea how he got there, people also attracted to
O’Briens because he proves to be brave, loyal, and clever, with isolated
telepathic powers and a very limited memory of previous knowledge of the Maze
film. Soon after arriving in the Glade, Thomas makes both friends and enemies
and proves a leader among the boys. But as the newest arrival to the Glade, he
is dubbed a “greenie” and duly hazed until he can prove his worth to the key
figures he meets.O'Brien has always been a standout actor he routinely steals
the show on Teen Wolf.He is good at the connections with the other guys, all of
whom are played well by the cast of young actors particularly head runner Minho
by Ki Hong Lee, leader Alby by Aml Ameen, second in command Newt by Thomas
Brodie-Sangster, and the youngest of the Gladers, chubby and charming Chuck by
Blake Cooper.
The charismatic Alby played by Aml Ameen who was the first
to arrive, is the factor leader. The leader of the Gladers, Alby is a dark
skinner, very tall and tough man.Alby has authority over much of what goes on
in the Glade. He is hot-headed but experienced after being stung by a Griever,
Alby undergoes the changing and becomes convinced that they should not return
to the outside world. He wishes to stay in the Glade and even tries to sabotage
an escape plan by burning the maps drawn by the Runners. The scenes when Alby
dies during the escape attempt by throwing himself onto a Griever was so
touched and sadness.
Another character is a Minho played by Ki Hong Lee is the
head of the runners boys who dare to enter an opening in the giant walls and
explore the maze that lies behind them.Ki Hong Lee was a good actor and people
like he on the film because of he is the runner and the tough one and the
runner that can be save the gladers. He is an Asian mix.
Review of the press
‘Story didn't develop enough for you to feel part of it all
and for some reason we didn't really even like the main character’. (Hotpapy, 2014 US)
According to hotpappy ,I disagree with the above review,it’s
is amazing and my opinion is when The Scorch Trials and The Death cure are out,
we will see a lot more of the story and the main character and for me The Maze
runner is a good movie and Daylan O’Brien doing a great job for the main
character.
‘This movie, like the
monster-mad maze it pulls us into, is full of lots of twists, turns and
surprises (some of them stomach-churning, others heart-enriching)’. (Plugged
in, 2014 US)
According to plugged in I agree of their statement about
maze runner because in my opinion there is a scene when griever slug a gladers
and the scenes really surprised me.
Conclusion
From my personal point of view, the book and the film itself
shared same mistake, they are both rushed to get to the ending. The story line
for the novel was full of gaping plots that creates confussion. The beginning of
this film is imaginative and incorporates the viewer right into the
mystery of
it all. Apart from all the weakness, the movie itself beautiful .
Some people said the movie of The Maze Runner is better than
the novel but some people say the novel is better than movie. But for me movie
is much more better than novel and I am willing to pay twice the ticket to
watch the movie in cinemas because the movie was too interesting for me. This
movie suitable for teenager and adult.
The story centers on a group of teenagers who find
themselves mysteriously transported to a maze known as the Glade. This movie and
the storyline is full of adventure, mysteriously and I also like the hero
Thomas by Dylan O’ Brien he being doing a good job played the main character as
a hero in this movie. And I like the scene when chuck as Blake Chopper die and
Thomas promise to save chuck and bring him to his family. The scene was so touched and can make me cry in the cinemas
I also like the scene when Thomas became a runner.
As the film progresses, Thomas takes a chance and decides to
run through the maze with hopes of escaping. It is at this point that the
cinematography and special effects are at its best. The movie itself paints a
world of hostility and courage, allowing its audience a suspenseful adventure
through a maze they may never get out of alive. The first half of this film is
creative, suspenseful and overall exciting to watch. However, it becomes
obvious that the first half of the film largely makes up for the lack of
creativity in the second half of the film.
I personally think The Maze Runner movie should have received high reviews for its
excellent quality of acting, its good pacing, appropriate suspense and plot
twists and it deserves four stars because of the special effects, imaginative
cinematography and dystopian sense of mystery is something not to be missed.
The movie leaves its viewers with gnawing questions that are unshakable
For me the most things I like about this story is when the
teenager united to save their life and back to the normal life. But I think the
novel and the movie both are good and interesting.
