FORREST GUMP MOVIE

The film begins with a feather falling to the feet of Forrest Gump who is sitting at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia. Forrest picks up the feather and puts it in the book Curious George, then tells the story of his life to a woman seated next to him. The listener at the bus stop changes regularly throughout his narration, each one of the shows different attitude ranging from disbelief and indifference to rapt veneration.

On his first day at school, he meets a girl named Jenny, whose life is followed in parallel to Forrest's at times. Having discarded his leg braces, his ability to run at lightning speed gets him into college on a football scholarship. After his college graduation, he joined the army and he been sent to Vietnam, where he makes fast friends with a black man named Benjamin Buford Blue “Bubba”. Bubba convinces Forrest to go into the shrimping business with him when the war is over. Later while on patrol, Forrest's platoon has been attacked. Though Forrest rescues many of the men, Bubba was killed in action. Forrest is awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour for his heroism.

While Forrest is in recovery for a bullet shot to his "buttock", he discovers his uncanny ability for table tennis. Eventually he gaining popularity and rising to celebrity status. Forrest played table tennis competitively against Chinese teams. At an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C. Forrest reunites with Jenny, who has been living a hippie lifestyle. When he returned home, Forrest endorses a company that makes table tennis paddles. The company offered Forrest $25,000, which he uses to buy a shrimping, boat to fulfilling his promise to Bubba.

His commanding officer from Vietnam, Lieutenant Dan joined him, Initially Forrest has little success. After finding his boat the only surviving boat in the area after Hurricane Carmen, he begins to pull in huge amounts of shrimp and uses it to buy an entire fleet of shrimp boats. He got a call that telling that his mother is sick. He returned home to see his mother’s last days. Lt. Dan invests the money in Apple Computer and Forrest is financially secure for the rest of his life.

One day, Jenny returns to visit Forrest and he proposes marriage to her. But she declines. She leaves early the next morning. After that, Forrest decided to go for a run. Seemingly capriciously, he decides to keep running across the country several times, over some three and a half years he become famous. In present-day, Forrest reveals that he is waiting at the bus stop because he received a letter from Jenny who, having seen him run on television and asks him to visit her.

Forrest discovers he has a son. Jenny tells Forrest she is suffering from a virus. Together the three move back to Alabama. Jenny and Forrest finally marry. The wedding is attended by Lt. Dan, who now has prosthetic legs and a fiancé. Jenny dies not so long after. The film ends with Forrest and his son waiting for the school bus on little Forrest's first day of school. He opened the book that his son taking to school. As the bus pulls away, the white feather from the beginning of the movie is caught on a breeze and drifts skyward.

Some people said the book is better than the movie. And some said the movie is better than the book. But for me, I have read the book and have watched the movie and learned how vast the difference from the book to the film. Both movie and book is telling the same story about Forrest’s life. Despite the differences and the fact I enjoyed the movie and the novel. This is the most interesting story for teenagers and adults. The story is full of adventures, humours, sadness, and many more. It is a combination of the emotional in one story.

The story line is very easy to understand. For me the thing that I like the most about this story is the unforgettable charming quotes that can easily be identified as a classic line from Forrest Gump. At the beginning of the movie, Forrest says that “life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get.” It means you would never know what will happen to you until you try or do it. And some time it can be your luck. This quote is really inspired me. It really gave a positive impact to me. And I would like to recommend this book to people who haven’t read it. Both movie and the book have their own charms. It’s an easy to digest material and it is also an enjoyable movie if u asked me.
